EDINBURGH PATCHWORK WEEKLY CLUBS.

365 CHALLENGE 2017 – The Ultimate Sampler Quilt.

10:15 – 1pm, Tuesdays. £8.50 sign up fee then £8.50 per session, excluding materials.

Want to have a go at Kathryn Kerr’s 365 challenge 2017?  Think you can make a block a day for a whole year? (don’t worry, most of the blocks are tiny). After the blockbuster success of the 365 challenge 2016, we have decided to enlist Bruce Duncan’s expert help to host an Edinburgh group for the 365 challenge 2017.  This will run on Tuesday mornings, 10:15 – 1pm, starting Tuesday 10th January and Bruce will be on hand to discuss the week’s block patterns and help with fabric choice, piecing issues and other 365 stuff.  There will be homemade cake or cookies as well as tea and coffee.

Here’s a link to the official website:

Bruce has almost completed the 365 challenge 2016 (with stunning results) and has been an active member of the 365 community. He has been asked to be a facebook administrator for the 2017 challenge and will be starting a new 365 quilt for 2017.

This is Bruce’s 365 sampler 2016 with a few more borders to add still….

This quilt is suitable for confident beginners who are proficient with a sewing machine. The end product is a beautiful sampler quilt but one of the real benefits of taking on this challenge is the journey – by working away on these blocks you will hugely develop your own skills in cutting, piecing and fabric placement. This is a great way to grow your creative and patchwork muscles!

Information on joining the challenge (which starts on the 1st of January 2017), becoming a member of the 365 community and fabric choices will be given out on booking, in advance of the first session.

PAPER PIECING CLUB

2 – 4:45pm, Tuesdays. £4 per session.

Our friendly and relaxed paper piecing club will start up again on the 10th January, 2017. This is a drop in session but the club can be fairly full, so let us know if you would like to come along to avoid disappointment. Bring your own project or we can help you chose a project and we can make up paper pieces for you if you prefer not to hand cut your own. No experience necessary. This is not a taught class – help is on hand but participants are expected to work independently.

WEDNESDAY MORNING CLUB

10:15 – 2pm, Wednesdays, £4.50 per session.

This is a relaxed and fun club where people can work on their own machine or hand sewing projects. It is a drop in session but the club tends to be quite busy, so phone in advance to check that there is space if you’d like to come.

THURSDAY MORNING CLUB

10:15 – 2pm, Thursdays, £4.50 per session.

This is a relaxed and fun club where people can work on their own machine or hand sewing projects. It is a drop in session but the club tends to be quite busy, so phone in advance to check that there is space if you’d like to come.

FRIDAY AFTERNOON CRAFT CLUB

2 – 4:45pm, Fridays, £4.00 per session.

On Friday afternoons (2.00pm – 4.45pm) we now have a sewing club for crafters to come along and work on individual projects together in our lovely workshop space.

Catriona is currently running a Tula Pink ‘Quilt-along’ but you can really work on whatever you like. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon with tea and biscuits and other crafters to chat with. If you haven’t got a project to work on, we can help you choose something fun.   It is a drop in session but the club tends to be quite busy, so phone in advance to check that there is space if you’d like to come.

Whether you’re working on patchwork quilting, bag making, hats, laptop cases or other creative sewing ventures this club offers you access to:

  • a bright workshop space
  • use of our sewing machines
  • help and advice on your projects
  • our mini library for inspiration
  • a friendly and social environment
  • lots of free tea, coffee and biscuits!

The club is open to all abilities, however basic sewing experience is needed.

Spaces are limited so please send us an email to book a place. Email us at: edinburghpatchwork@gmail.com.

    • Hello Charles, sorry for the delay – I’ve been away for a few days. You are welcome to come to the Friday club but you would have to work fairly independently – there’s not much scope for intensive teaching. If you are a beginner and would like to get into P&Q, I would recommend a beginners course. We’ve got one starting in the Autumn (see the classes page). Hope to see you soon, Alison.
