Check out the new classes list for the coming Autumn. There’s a variety of classes from patchwork quilts to cushions and Christmas gifts.
There’s a jelly roll friendly adaptation of the traditional Chinese Lantern block and much, much more.
We’ve also got loads of new and very lovely Christmas fabric in the shop now with a special Christmas display of Christmas jelly rolls, layer cakes and charm packs, so if you’re aiming to give some hand-made Christmas gifts this year, come and check them out.
In the meantime, happy summer holidays!
There are still a few spaces left on the following classes:
BEGINNERS QUILTING & MACHINE KNOW-HOW (tutor Pat Stone).
10:15 – 4pm, Sunday 14th May, 2017. £45, excluding materials.
Enthusiastic and expert tutor Pat Stone will spend the day focusing on all aspects of machine quilting. Using samples, Pat will enable you to explore traditional quilting techniques, decorative stitches, free motion quilting and much more. Packed with tips and tricks but laid back and stress free, Pat’s classes are a goldmine of experience and creativity. This is a beginners class, so no previous experience is necessary but with so many great techniques and tips, this class would also suit quilters wishing to expand their quilting repertoire.
WALDORF-STYLE DOLL-MAKING (tutor Hannah Sanguinetti).
10:15 – 4pm, Saturday17th & 24th June, 2017. £80, including doll materials but excluding material for clothes and hair.

This class runs over two full days and is for making a 32cm Waldorf-style cloth doll. These are beautiful, rounded dolls full of individual character and using all natural materials. The doll itself is sewn from special cotton stretch-jersey and shaped and stuffed with wool fleece. Materials for making the doll itself are included in the course cost but participants will need to provide their own fabric for clothes and yarn for hair. Suitable options for these will be discussed during the first class. Doll-making is a wonderful way of bringing together different textile crafts and the class will include some very basic needle-felting, embroidery and crochet along with machine and hand sewing. Although this is a beginner doll-making class, experience with basic machine sewing and simple hand sewing is necessary.
Welcome back after the festive season. Here at Edinburgh Patchwork we’ve been beavering away, working on new projects. The spring classes are about to start and there are still a few places left on some of them. We’re also about to add some more classes for April and beyond, including a lovely ‘Houses’ block which can be made into a cushion, wallhanging or extended to make a beautiful quilt.
We’ll also be making a project folder – perfect for carrying your latest project, rulers and cutting mat from place to place.

I’ve adapted a traditional ‘Chinese Lantern’ block to make it jelly roll friendly and we’re going to do that as a class.
So, drop in or give us a ring and find out what we’ll be up to in the coming months.
We hope 2017 is a great year for everyone – happy quilting!
Edinburgh Patchwork is now closed for the holidays. We hope you all have a great Christmas and we look forward to seeing our quilting friends again in 2017. We will reopen on Tuesday 3rd January with our New Year sale. All merchandise will be 20% off, including fabric, wadding, threads and haberdashery (classes are not included in the sale).
Check out Veronica’s fabulous version of the Tula Pink City Sampler. For the past few months, Catriona has been running a City Sampler quilt along with various people doing their own unique version and at their own speed. Veronica zoomed ahead and is the first to finish her quilt and some people have just started. This is a Friday morning activity (10:15 – 13:00). I’ll post more of them as they are completed.
